Steve Nance Shuttle Photos

Steve Nance's Columbia Space Shuttle Photos Page One

Steve was privy to witness the first flight of the shuttle Columbia in it's glorious beginnings.  The patch was made into a button. Steve's photos were old, so the only manipulation was to darken or brighten the image of using the unsharp mask tool with Paint Shop Pro...to make the image clearer. Borders were added as well.

Left - Crew Patch...showing the first Columbia Shuttle Mission. It's a shame that she is gone now.

Right -This is Columbia's escort...a fighter jet! Yes, that looks like a black helicopter. Mission were very protected...especially in the testing phases.

To the left - Objects  circled in orange  after the escort landed.
To the right - Blow up of the same image further concludes that these objects are most likely  Cranes...which were in the area at the time. Even despite the fact that they take on a similar disc like circular shape. Other security aircraft were in the area too.

To the left -  The shuttle mission first flight touchdown aboard the back of a 747! What a moment in American history!
