Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race

Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race by Michael A. Cremo, Richard L. Thompson

Editorial Reviews

Book Description
Over the centuries, researchers have found bones and artifacts proving that humans like us have existed for millions of years. Mainstream science, however, has suppressed these facts. Prejudices based on current scientific theory act as a "knowledge filter," giving us a picture of prehistory that is largely incorrect.

From the Publisher
I perceive in Forbidden Archeology a work of thoroughgoing scholarship and intellectual adventure. -Dr. Pierce Flynn

Forbidden Archeology's Impact: How a Controversial New Book Shocked the Scientific Community and Became an Underground Classic
by Michael A. Cremo

Book Description
Forbidden Archeology's Impact offers readers an inside look at how mainstream science reacts with ridicule, threats and intimidation to any challenge to its deeply held beliefs.

Ingram
When Cremo's book "Forbidden Archaeology" was published in 1993, the scientific world was shocked by its extensive evidence for extreme human antiquity--pushing the origin of the human race back tens of millions of years. "Forbidden Archeology's Impact" documents the explosive reactions to his controversial book.

Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings: Evidence of Advanced Civilization in the Ice Age

Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings: Evidence of Advanced Civilization in the Ice Age by Charles H. Hapgood

Fascinating, rigorous analysis. Reviewer: A reader from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA
I recently read the book "Maps of the ancient sea kings" by Charles H. Hapgood. The book provides a rigorous analysis of a number of maps that appear to be copies and compilations of far more ancient maps detailing the coasts of North and South America, Antarctica, India, possibly Australia and other coastlines that are currently thought not to have been "discovered" until only comparatively recently. The ancient maps appear to have used a projection system that was not "invented" until recent times and some of the maps seem to indicate a remarkably accurate estimate of the circumference of the earth. Interestingly, the ancient maps, according to the author, appear to have been drawn at a time when the level of the oceans was lower and the distribution of glaciers was different, thus detailing islands (e.g., in the Aegean Sea) that are currently submerged. The author's conclusion is that the ancient maps were created by a highly organized and advanced culture predating currently known cultures of the ancient world. I found the author's analysis of the maps to be rigorous and convincing although some of the assumptions are questionable. The author wisely keeps speculation to a refreshing minimum (as compared to other books on related topics) and bases conclusion on the facts at hand. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the topic.

Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters

 Encyclopedia of Earthquakes and Volcanoes

Encyclopedia of Earthquakes and Volcanoes byDavid Ritchie, Alexander E., Phd Gates

 Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
From aa to Yellowstone, if it's got anything at all to do with earthquakes or volcanoes, you're likely to find within the pages of this updated encyclopedia from science journalist David Ritchie and Rutgers geology professor Alexander Gates.

The 1,000-plus alphabetical listings range from historical volcanoes and quakes (both famous and obscure) to entries on specific seismic phenomena (everything from parasitic cones to jökulhlaup) and general geological principles, including a few excellent in-depth discussions on topics like plate tectonics and seismic wave types. The encyclopedia also contains a lengthy bibliography, a list of Internet resources, a chronological listing of notable quakes and eruptions, and a handful of unforgettable eyewitness accounts (after the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79, apparently Pliny the Elder's party went out "having pillows tied upon their heads with napkins; and this was their whole defense against the storm of stones that fell around them").
